Lightbomber: Photo Booth for MTV O Music Awards
Last Friday was a first for us. We’ve done many many photo booths, but until Friday, none of them were shot exclusively on Lightbomber. We usually bring out a nice backdrop, a tripod, a camera and our usual arsenal of lights and go to town shooting then printing photos for people.
Friday was different though. Thanks to the MTV O Music Awards we were given an opportunity to showcase LightBomber at their Summer Friday event underneath the Manhattan Bridge in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
We presented LightBomber with a livestream Q&A in the afternoon, and then spent the day demo-ing the app with a photo booth for all the event guests. Amazing bands played (Bosco Del Rey, Prince Rama, Zambri, Javelin), great food was served (The Mile End smoked meat sammich was beyond) and the whole thing was streamed online.
We set up the app on a tripod, started an exposure, did some lightpainting around the guest, and then popped a lower-power flash (the Lomo Fritz the Blitz, to be exact, since our usual pro flash would be too intense) and once the photos were done and the oohs and aahs had subsided, we took down twitter info and tweeted it right to the guest! No twitter? No problem. We also emailed and texted photos.
It was a seamless and social way to run a booth. We’ve been trying to find the right event for this kind of photobooth since we launched the app and this was clearly the place. Look for many more LightBomber booths in the future. Enjoy some highlights in the gallery to the left, and as always, grab the entire set on the MRI Flickr.
Oh yeah, we also got this great write up on the O Music Awards Blog.
